Yes yes yes. What when you. Why what do you want to do with you or remains are being -- the sides met a guy who read that exhibit up at the buffalo Museum of Science poppy plant design it. Donate your body to medical science. -- -- -- The good life insurance anymore -- and others. -- -- -- All -- but anyway Russ felt a tour as in Russell's not to. Confused with all the -- on Genesee and whatever that street is that I'm always area transit road I -- in transit but this is Brussels. Russell's Russell Salvatore. Has come out and is -- bet he wishes to drill bit outside of its establishment known as Russell's. This study is interesting because as much as I enjoyed visiting cemeteries. And I've ever told you this but. You know what I see when I see a cemetery. I -- love stories. I do. I -- love stories but as much is we're gonna try to get Joseph -- on later on today to talk about. Burying and and and special request like Gary Russell two hours of Joseph wants to join us. Now that's the first first things first. I don't Salvatore who is there anybody who doesn't know -- Salvatore. I mean seriously. I mean we are -- more than acquaintances but we're less than friends whenever I go out and make appointments available objective stance but a few minutes speaking with -- -- he goes away having you know -- is he knows who you know I mean we know a lot of people -- More than acquaintances less than friends with Ross Salvatore I have the world's. I have an enormous respect for -- Salvatore. It would be impossible for me to put into words how much I respect the man. He has. He has something special is -- magic as a sparkle to him everything he touches turns to gold. The man is a king of hospitality. The man who knows what he's doing he knows what it takes to make people happy. He gives people a good time he does a lot for the community does a lot for people who were in need and he does most of its silently. -- -- -- -- Salvatore is a soft touch that I hate to stay that way because it makes it seem like he's off the net which he certainly not. But he's a nice guy he's a genuinely. Fascinating human -- And I am frankly honored to have -- a few minutes of like talking with Ross Salvatore saint of course not who -- -- Angel of course -- he's a guy. He's human he's a man which makes what he's done for our area all the more. All the -- I think meaningful. Salvatore gets. A fact I wrote him a fan letters you might not even if I don't think I've mentioned that publicly. But has about 868 months ago could be years ago by now I don't even now. But it Ross a fan letter to saying -- you know what. You have so much respect for me for everything you've done. And in some small ways I try to emulate you where and when I can just wanted to -- even an impact on my life. Tom Bauer and he read the letter and next time I saw him by brought it up he said it was very nicely you know he's break it out it's really funny because that. For guy who says he wants to be remembered he at the same time is a modest man. I don't think he's ever forgotten his roots I don't think he's ever forgotten his origins. Which makes him to meet all the more of a fascinating human -- I love -- -- -- Idea I have is -- that I have just the I have so much respect for him and everything that he has done with his restaurants and that with the community that it really is boundless. He's done so much for so that. Now the question of should heed the end to -- out there and hope that you want to be buried. Should he be in two bit -- he sheds his mortal coil at Russell's. On -- wrote. Now that is the question. And see this is interest entity because I -- spent a lot of time by dwelling on the -- Because sooner or later folks were all going to be debt -- -- nobody gets out of here alive not you not me nobody ever ever known has gotten out of your life. We all have to face the great uncertainty. A -- all of us. Is this where I should mention -- once a week reference to having been dead three times clinically on the operating table. Nothing to. Nothing to actually Joseph I did see Jesus he came back he told me to tell you you're not to see you know you can't just view. I don't know he. Now I I didn't see anything like that well all I felt was this enormous sensitive of peace and tranquility but then -- equipment to drugs I'd that I was on during the during the surgery but. In any event. IE eight. I respect the man. As far as being in -- at the restaurant here here's what I what I need to get out there and again please keep in mind. This in no way shape -- form. Should be construed as a -- -- Salvatore show because my feelings are so far so 180 degrees away from that it's not -- their few people IE respect. As I respect -- on the tour but let's put it that way and I mean that in a good way. Now. It presupposes. The perpetual existence. Of Russell's. Snake and shops in my hotel it presupposes that. Now what we've all -- restaurants. What what do we know our restaurants. Okay. As far as I know ladies and gentlemen. The oldest continuing. Place the hospitality. In Western New York is right around the corner from where I live it's eagle house on main street in Williams Bill -- by the way candy Shuler. Alex rice is Bob works from time to time. I've been so far behind -- a correspondent she's very nice Thanksgiving note. And that there are reasons why I've been far behind in my life one of them is certain situation at -- which is being dealt with. Well my neighbors know what I'm talking about and the other situation is being some issues. I shall we say gastrointestinal. Distress for two weeks so -- I'm a little bit through all my game a little bit less than myself and have been. Now for a couple weeks and I hope you'll understand that and I don't know what it is all -- know is that. Pretty much nothing so. I'd I'd apologize about behind them like correspondence but what -- -- -- -- restaurants. No restaurant last forever -- business last forever. You think the people at blockbuster ever thought that they've -- a business did you ever think that. It was sort of a Babu said if you part of movie from -- -- or if you if you took out a movie from blockbuster the last day does that mean you don't have to return it. But that there's -- funny actually but. Seriously. No restaurant last at some point. Russell's will go out of business at some point and what are the things you -- restaurant and I'm gonna be very careful here is that. These same location. A restaurant that you like can go downhill rapidly under new management. When I say that again the same location of a restaurant you like can rapidly go downhill with a change in management. -- Salvatore is a special kind of manager Russ Salvador's a special kind of boss he make sure that everything is just perfect. Frankly it's it's a restaurant in my -- that have been taken over by new people would have gone downhill dramatically going down multiple global -- Well died there because it's just not an enjoyable experience Russell's however it is -- there. Because Salvatore is there and he monitors every mouthful of food -- I'm convinced of it he that's he's the perfect toast. I I just I cannot say enough about how the man does business -- that these genius. He is so good at what he does he is just a remarkable human being in so many ways Russia also liked the fact that I might be a little bit taller than Rust Belt -- so he gives me hope. But as I was saying at some point -- will go out of business. Not in the next five years not in the next ten years but. Whatever -- Salvatore. It grows for that big a chuck wagon in the sky. It's going to be new people who are running and those -- people are not gonna have the same dedication as -- Salvatore. -- -- restaurant. And the restaurant industry is highly competitive. Public restaurant to we've -- common goal over the years in buffalo and even remember my father's mustache that one. The macaroni company remember that one of these are just recent. There are places that West End and places that don't. And I'm afraid that once Russell looked horror is -- that Russell will go the way of pretty much every other restaurant. Except some of the smaller neighborhood joints. But I used to work and still infrequent from time to time. Seoul knowing bat I kind of wonder. Okay what if Russell's goes out of business after -- Levels at -- Thompson's are at rest which you know he'll believe me quite the contrary. Up what went -- Salvatore checks out. Okay I don't say that flatly and I think you know public to respect the adults it is about many people but he -- he's got a hero to me in many ways. But at some point Russell's restaurant could very well be a -- will be a TJX. It could be -- bases. It could be a Wal-Mart. I'm just using these as examples I realized that all of these places are close to their anyway right now but but what. The new -- gonna have to decide. What what are we doing here. Are we gonna allow this in tournament this mausoleum to stand or we got a request permission to move it. And that it would have to grant the operation would -- be -- Health Department wouldn't be the Lancaster town board would it be the family of mr. Salvatore. Mean you get it is of interest earlier this year because as much as Ross would like to be remembered. I gotta tell you it. Reality of humanity and the reality of the human existence is we all will be forgotten every single one of us will be forgotten. Save for the very best known. The very best known of the of these figures in history you know who's remembered today thousands of years ago Jesus Julius Caesar king taught. Kicked out of Portugal -- Robert because as Steve Martin's. At the -- they're really was -- with uncommon. But he's really a minor -- he's remembered because it's -- was found largely intact by Howard Carter back in the 1920s. And that's why we know the name King Tut. And it ramseys does that mean anything to you at all about the conduct well before with a condom -- the pharaoh of Egypt ramseys -- -- -- -- the ramseys. -- But anyway. All forgotten Alexander the Great William Shakespeare. These are names that are immortal. OK Jesus I mentioned him earlier immortal. The rest of us. Comedy if you remember Franklin Pierce. Frank -- -- -- thinking GOL. Mean anything new gels well Franklin Pierce was president of the United States. We'd act went in the middle part of the well like the 1848 -- yeah 1840s he was president of the united state Jim you can't. The president -- before -- it. Wells. In the Johnson president of the United States to follow like cal Coolidge more -- If these -- don't get anything -- I don't like they were president of the United States. They were at the top of their games and guess what their dead and the forgotten to think anybody outside of buffalo even knows what or who -- Millard Fillmore is. Seriously nobody knows nobody cares the man was president of the United States he by the way is buried at forest lawn cemetery in the buffalo usually once a year ago it was great and -- send out some prayers and some positive vibes for him his family and that I -- walk away. The Miller felt or two yes. We're Robert William McKinley well probably more people remember him that. -- will remember mr. felt more because that McKinley at least that was assassinated in office but I daresay that if you let up and down the street today and use it who killed William wickedly. Now what point -- that was the arch villain of the new century of the twentieth century. But now say they've Leon -- rush to anybody and they'll look at you say is the bills' practice squad. Not a -- living right now are immortal. We will all be forgotten. All that's not true to that's not true by simply takes this stuff seriously place up in my family are the only person. Who goes to my great grandparents graves -- the only person who goes to my great great grandparents graders. I go over here. -- make sure they're in good condition a clean up the week it's why it out of respect out of respect for my family. Because without my family they I would be here which sounds kind of elementary but. You know even our own family I'm the only person who gives a -- about where these people were buried what they did in their lives the achievements they had the disappointment the failures the said mrs. So if that's if it is that way within my family and it probably is within yours as well. Let's face it guys let me be really honest with I'll I'll ask your question be honest with yourself how many when's the last time you went to your husband's -- -- When's the last time you let your wife's -- went when's the last time you -- your grandparents -- your parents graders went probably not a lot. Probably awhile ago if you're like most people. People are forgotten. And I hit the put it that way but people are forgotten. A case in point and I wanna say something nice about forest lawn cemetery because I think the people over there are top notch in any time you hear me say something like you know an icy -- love stories that's a compliment to -- dispenser because he's right. I also see love stories I also see a lot of graves that nobody wants to visit anymore because families -- out or people are forgotten. But at forest -- they help you locate a grave of a great great uncle of mine who served in the eleventh New York cavalry. During the civil war company M of the New York State of the New York eleven to cavalry Scott says 102 where they were called 900 effort. But in any event they help -- find -- The tombstone was dead on the ground is buried under probably several inches of dirt. And the people of forest law were kind enough to not only locate degree forgery. But also a range to have a proper veterans headstone placed for Peter Russo who served his country honorably in the civil war. And you wanna talk about service you wanna talk about really caring -- apartment living up to their ads to exactly what forest -- bit and why did they do that because a great great nephew of the man who -- -- longer buried there. David Dan and they also David -- and -- that meant so much to me. I can't begin to tell you to be able to do that for a long dead -- ancestor of mind. Sell most of us again our four got. Were dead at work on and were forgot I mean look at this industry. I've I've used this example before John -- has been dead for a number of yours at one point job -- was the midnight mayor of buffalo. He was -- talk radio host he was the best there ever has been the best server will be John Otto might agree with everything he he bought of course. Not -- that -- agree with everything I think. But the man was one of the -- he was the pioneer he was the trend setter he was the region later he was the man. John opt out you you go up another street right now and you say vigil he does does the name job -- mean anything to. And the older we become the last people remember who -- Otto was and what he did and what made him so special. So the bottom line is you know it in fifty years you say to people hey how about Jim Kelly. And they'll sleep in the guy used to be the intercom engineer guy none of the guys used to -- of the Buffalo Bills you know -- and often it's. All okay and then they'll walk away kind of be -- you know put the somebody and say it cookie Gilchrist. Go to somebody asked about Rene wrote beer. Go to somebody asked what Mike -- the time well everybody knows Mike. I just want to repayment. But you get my point right where all forgotten. None of us are remembered forever even the villains even the villains. Stay with us on WB at 8030 my -- appalled -- 930 on the -- 180616. WBE. Yeah. Okay. Okay. -- resemble that remark big talking small -- -- queen Freddie Mercury I can -- Europe. Oh he's. It's 333. News radio 930 WB and it is hourly. Florida woman attacked by -- victim did not see -- comic. Isn't that the way it always yours I'm yours you know whenever I get attacked by a -- they're -- bears -- KG barriers not nearly as wily as the coyotes are round leader but still on the last. Quite deceptive and quite working -- -- -- you'll be okay right. I mean if you want one arm and leg. -- but you should survive. It now she should be okay it's victim to Nazi -- com. I hope she's OK because I'm reading beat text on the TV so she's dead and I just felt like most insensitive moron in the world -- apologize. -- we could put out a preemptive apology. So wait a Salvatore a man for -- of the deepest respect I don't think I can respect anybody more than I respect -- but he knows that it. He wants to be in two outside of Russell's. And that ID as much as I understand from where he is coming. At some point there will be no Russell steak and shop there will be no Russell's. Whatever. Because. It is going to be you know when he passes restaurant -- restaurant now. And the story so the new owner of the property whatever they wanna do that then what's gonna happen. Seriously. I don't think that I bring it up by a bad year. Have you given any thought to whether or not you'd think this is a good idea. To. Here here's the thing. If it kind of presupposes that felt outdoors is gonna hurt -- that Russell's there's a difference believe. -- Russell's. Is going to be around forever and nothing is around forever so it's nothing is around forever. Nothing last forever nothing does. Except the move the stars this on an -- some point the sub's gonna blow up about six billion yours at worst group mightily obamacare or not we're screwed now -- Seoul if you given any thought to what you want done once you crossed into that final frontier which is in space which is death. At a given that look I know it's morbid and I know it's the holidays but frankly in my apparently we have a propensity for buying around the holidays my great great grandfather died Christmas -- 1897. He started tradition. After that. In every generation we spoil every holiday by one of his -- If Allah knows my father distort -- a few years before that my uncle was drug labored a few years Easter I think has been destroyed every. Today is associated with a -- that might heavily. 8030 about thirty is the Paul Robert by the way in case you asked and I know which were wondering about this Tom. We don't care about ourselves we hear what you want to do when you're -- first of all no funeral. You know why is nobody can. That's why people say no funeral I have the same sell out to everybody else. Wanna have a funeral because I don't think anybody come number one. That would be embarrassing. Spent all that money just to have a couple of people I know say he dumb he he looks old. So and that viewing nonsense. Now the second I'm dead. Direct cremation I don't even care hardest gold beating but I brain dead direct cremation. Now I thought ahead of others and what I have my pacemaker and ICD implanted into my chest the year ago I had I have my surgeon. Yeah I got my surgeon doctor doctor Walt. He implanted eight digital recording. And it will only be activated when my core temperature hits 200 in other words just as I go into the crematory. And once it hits 200 degrees. In a very loud voice you hear my voice saying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It took an extra couple thousand to get doctor Walt -- put that in the -- But I think it's gonna be great fun when they do put into the crematory hill final practical joke on the world. Just say could you imagine being the guy who worked in the crematory he shortly and closes the door cranks up the heat. And then about a minute later when it's 200 degrees that thing in my -- goes off you all -- I rather like that idea it's called foresight it's called looking ahead at all contingencies. So that after a reduced matches and via attended at the crematory pretends he didn't hear me. Because he knows that he'd be sued big time right so after that. I didn't hear anything now I figured out that not need to be talking after -- how could he was bad. So after that my ashes are to be taken that I -- and they're -- be dumped into the -- river because the Niagara river eventually will drain in two Lake Ontario. And farther below Lake Ontario -- and what Lake Erie can -- And the iron vote goes the murders all know with the gales of November remembered something like that so what are from Ontario we're gonna go to the saint Lawrence. From the saint Lawrence we're gonna go into the north Atlantic and from the North Atlantic I will encircle the -- My ashes will encircle the -- And therefore I consider as safely say that future generations eating seafood can bite and they will. That's what I want them with my actions you know wants the same thing it's bizarre. She wants directory nation if she wants to go to that I revert. What the -- -- -- I just thought it sure that we who's with me hey can we do now -- more on Null -- got to wait on them all trap others. But he's calling them. However. I think if you get some calls in right now because traffic music. If you know there was huge traffic we go to -- but there's not gonna go to so let's just that makes calls -- I think eight in -- all the Canadians on the roads in Western New York by the way it's in all seriousness. A -- thank our Canadian shoppers coming over to buffalo and Western New York we do appreciate your business I love to rag on Canadians but that's all -- call lives. My ancestors imagined those guys before they were among the pioneer settlers of Montreal and there even in the sense is that 1666. So I am entitled to bash Canadians because in my blood -- Believe me you probably have some of my blood in you if you have any connection to Montreal because what are we know about the French. They reproduce like rabbits as my family that way back -- inept that he. Worse on duke. And by the way I don't speak much French I was able to brush up on a little bit of French with some very nice people I met in the -- the -- republic. And if you -- so proud of me how I communicated -- -- all these languages he backed him. And as I've said earlier I think Spanish is I've got to learn Spanish I'm obsessed now with Spanish is that does that make -- bad person. Probably but I think it's a beautiful language and it's easy to war and what you learned that the gate is open to Italian it's open -- French. It's opened a lot of different languages. And there's one thing about myself joke it is I am very cunning linguists let's go to Sergio is all for awhile Sergio on WB and talk to reader. Yes I just -- to. Expand your conversation a little bit. Some that make you aware -- that center mr. -- -- is set up. -- -- To permanently. Take care. Of the memorial park cities created. -- -- -- there in front of his restaurant. So as far as the other things -- as -- Wait time out time out how does that tie and because you know my ancestors also paid to be buried at a certain cemetery not forced long by the way. And that's cemetery we now which supposedly offered perpetual care is overgrown with weeds and -- hands. -- anything is possible in this world but I'm saying that he has sent out a special fund to take care and manage. That. Park memorial park it is created in front of and transit -- there in front of the restaurant. So even though he will pass away and someday like we all do. Few the park itself. Will be maintained. As a memorial park. And if -- so called buried in there he will be along with the other memorials here is that memorial will be there also. That is the same thing outside my house. When you thought you'd get approved and get the guys really want as he's gotten approval from the towel. To create this part that's been out of the memorial park has been in existence of street for years now. And if there's no. Legal reason. From the counter villagers. State that objection to it since that is already -- memorial park what is a prevent. Him from the original -- wishes. Well -- that I would have to refer to a a a real estate attorney and somebody who understands zoning law and somebody who understands what is included when you buy something lock stock and barrel now the memorial park I'm not exactly sure I mean that does that not infer some kind of perpetual ownership of land and I don't know anything that last forever including most marriages. Well I mean I think -- compare apples -- there but. The fact is it is approved -- Mario are. He has he has continuously putting money into a fund. To continue to maintain that park and. It -- as far as. What -- Angela comes along recently went after Republicans wanted to you know what.
