And we're back at this is Michael Caputo I am in for Tom Bauerle Europe newsreader at 930 WB Ian Tom's going to be back. Next week your -- Friday in his stead this and I I wanted to talk real quick John and I were talking on he called and John I like talking -- kind of guy wanted to beer with but I meant to give them some serious topics here but before I do wanna talk Q what what -- -- the complaints you -- about my politics now. I was speaking about have a beer but you know that let. Commercial now and have a glass of. I know you like a lot. You you you tell me. Rightly -- the top of the liberal Democrat is be up. All should privatize. Big garbage service and outlook call it what it really is -- privatized its profit site. Well I mean if you say what you will but if -- saved taxpayers money. I mean it's not something the government specializes yeah. The taxpayer money will goal or a private company it's less money so. -- -- -- a bit I've lived in neighborhoods in Dallas and other places where was buried very successful. I've also in places where in Miami where it -- Well I -- -- -- kind of the you know the private sector and the public sector -- it all worked together at the university system in this country you know you have a lot of great public. School and you have a lot of great private school. And that you know that's good. Well listen John I join you calling you call in any time you Tom put Hewitt pro -- all right brother. All right I'll talk to you soon listen the reason I wanna get -- as something really mean this week really car. Actually last week. If you go to my blog -- politics and -- dot net or you go to buffalo business first blog you're gonna read about it. On my blog politics in -- done that there's an article by Matt Chandler who's the editor of buffalo law journal. And it's titled do you have a heart. And on and tell you why am asking if you have a heart Matt thank you for joining us here on WB and you've got a project going which I think is incredible. But thanks so much for having me and I appreciate it and yet it's one of those kind of project she wished she didn't have to do but something that was born out of a story that we covered here at the paper and a it's kind of blown up into. Life of its own it is and what you're doing is great -- Well -- probably most -- listeners are familiar with the Toys 'R' Us murder in Hamburg this how many system manager. -- wells was in the store by himself working. It was an intruder he was it was murdered and left behind in the short of it is the left behind pregnant wife. Jail and four year old daughter. It just an unbelievably tragic story adding. That he's his daughter and little Payton was just born last week. The -- it was carrying in and just an unbelievably tragic story. The picture. On your blog was I mean it's a picture of Larry walking by the beach with -- on racial. Well once again we got to traffic updates -- 12 please. Point five degrees now feels like seven degrees out there especially if you're on the 290 your views that work. If you're up there and you're stuck in traffic please get call here at 8030 went into a monitor of this traffic. Is rain. But meanwhile we're in the studio here with Matt Chandler editor of the buffalo laundry you're telling the story of the the wells January wells who was murdered. At Toys 'R' Us and I was part that picture. Him being kissed by his daughter's she's on the shores on the beach -- it is it's haunting aren't. It gives me chills right now just thinking -- -- -- that picture allowed the scene and had an up and I still everytime I look at it I mean I have two small kids and I only young daughter. And it's just it's it's our breaking there's no other way to describe it. There is -- in this is so fresh in the minds of -- -- -- the wounds are so open and what you're doing is you're trying to get locals here in Western New York. To help make this Christmas a little bit better how are you doing that. We -- Friday I had the opportunity to sit down with with jail Larry's wife and kind of learn a lot about him you know it's cliche sometimes when is a tragedy that. Everyone will come tell you good stories that. In this case it was just unbelievable the stories that came from coworkers from jail from other family members. From people that -- casually knew him I mean this is just an incredible guy and most importantly that it is unbelievably devoted to his family to his daughter to his wife. You know and that is again that hit me and so. As they're going through all this and again at four years old almost five I don't know how much Manny understands this directly. But in my mind she's going to at some point certainly -- as she gets older. And I decide you know what let's do something. They -- -- -- gives his family an opportunity to see that this this is it an average is an exception and Western New York is filled with wonderful people. Lets you know we're not gonna change what happened of course but if we can just put a little -- a little smile and that Stanley this holiday and show them how much people care buying. -- reaching out asking for donations for toys for Matty. And just really overwhelming her this holiday season I think it's something that's in court. And at at and I think. Buffalo's communities is very responsive these things especially when we think about how our children would feel with one of us were taken away I. I can't bear to even think right I've got to fifteen month old I'm an older and a new father. And it breaks my heart I can't even imagine that yeah I saw first on Twitter you call it hash -- Toys for Matt you're actually people who bringing Torre's. Right. It's been the response has been unbelievable I put the blog upon his first website and at about 9:30 in the morning last week. And I had a check at the office dropped off at noon by some it is set and only toys but I wanna contribute. We had at -- arrived that afternoon I mean it's it's been unbelievable the calls emails people. Reaching out not just from Western New York they've been out of state and people missing and online and just wanting to know what they can do our doubles right now. You know. I mean as you can imagine how is such a mixed emotion any CA I was on FaceBook in the editing you see that the picture of of jail in the hospital with the new baby and Matty there. And there's this is beautiful looking family and obviously one part missing. So how can you be anything they've got a lot of support and lot of friends and family but. Especially this time here how welcoming me. Well how how how can somebody get to view if they want. With some Tony's words. Estimation or. Or toys I mean whoever she is what you almost -- you share among -- -- remember that's princess -- I've been through that I think a lot of you have to that's princess so there's a lot you can help man that's. -- instance in exchange messages -- that Larry's cousin Michelle has been wonderful and kind of facilitating my contact in the Stanley and princesses barbies and our staff you know it would the average four year old girl wants and if people I get it to me that the simplest way to do it. Is a consolidated links to both the stories on my web sites and even go to Matt Chandler dot net they'll be able to read the stories get a little sense of -- see the photos. And then all the information is out there and he can dropping off -- business first office -- 65 main street. They welcome to call me Yucca Mountain picking up I'm actually heading after showing how to pick ups and toys from a donor. So they can drop -- I'll come to them whatever work they can mail them we've had people do that so. Newsday and -- we can units and again collect these and and get him. A quick reminder to to people who were listening if you're stuck in traffic please do call -- -- 82 threes -- -- that if we give an update to your colleagues are there in traffic as well maybe give them the opportunity to miss that -- You know. I I just I I -- one and look at that picture. I I quiver I go on my daughter and then I look at my picture I quiver and it hooked on my daughter thinks I'm going crazy. You know I mean it's it's a hunting happens -- is beyond the pale. It really is I mean it's sometimes sounds cliche to say words can't describe him by aegis and I indeed. They kind of decreasing I live right near the Toys 'R' Us and and then that morning my wife and I were driving -- kids in the car and we drive right guys we always do and seal the yellow tape and I just you know I thought. I don't know robbery fire any number of things could have been another car driven into -- -- sure exactly he never had any idea and then when you hear you know what happened it's just. It's unbelievable. It is you know. I'll tell you. I wanna I -- I'm gonna I wanna talk about this all week you know I've been. I just think you know I mean I mean here I'm having fun you know sitting in for the for Tom hourly and and I I think people ought to be participating in the us they really should I mean. -- met your what we your story if you get a chance to read this story you better have a box of tissues with the but it's. It's something people of Western New York can and should do. You know it ending a lot of the back story of Larry that maybe some people on all known and I got to learn through sitting down with his wife he started out to be teacher very passionate for kids. Like so many people would teachings -- giving its couldn't land a permanent jobs that a lot of long term substituting in the frontier school district in the south towns. Tried and tried and tried -- you know -- news -- of the stories I hear about -- this is the kind of guy he was he couldn't. -- and that permanent job so he's gonna take care is Stanley takes a -- at Toys 'R' Us. -- starts out as an associate who works is we have to management whenever asked to be done and that's that's the guy that he was from everybody that -- -- just an element of that side it may be a lot of people don't know that. Every -- read their background it seems like just every family I know in western new markets in my mind I mean. The better looking that are simply put it seems like Michael I just. I'm open I really hope that people respond. To our plea -- -- -- minute. I'm gonna try and had to call in check in with his -- meeting later this week -- -- just tell us how it's going -- I wanna talk about this is much is that. This fictional that -- -- -- because you know many wells needs princess Torre's friends Mary wells needs to smile on Christmas. And that's it and again you really emphasizing obviously -- toys don't bring her dad back in that. One story -- if people go to the the blog and read that is as I was talking to -- and Heidi asking how -- missed hoping. And she told the story that that she was writing cards and -- little noticed her dad attached to balloons and sending them -- to have and I'm. And I mean I just I can't I'm dwelling on knack -- telling you that story it's just. You can't picture that I have kids and -- privilege does even the process. I I and I got the picture on my computer and it's well listen thank you so much for coming in are really present a check back in with you this week maybe a couple of time management. And and for spending your time in your space on your blog to help family everybody again he can you tell them. The website again. You're the easiest way to get the consolidated links -- in my website Matt Chandler -- that just my name and that get the business first and lodge and links on their from both stories the back history and so forth and all the information on how people can -- And you can call the station as well and tell them you wanna leave a message for me and I'll make sure it gets to -- and we'll make sure you get together with mats you can help -- in the world's family. Have some kind of a Christmas thanks after come in and really appreciated as Michael Caputo. I'm in for Tom -- here on these -- 930 WB Ian will be right back. Well here it is again 25 degrees feels like seven. That is no fun my friends the lake effect snow advisory. From 4 PM this afternoon at 1 AM Wednesday in northern Erie and Genesee counties. Lake effect snow warning in effect for sixty embassy in a forum Thursday. And seven Erie Wyoming should talk court and count -- counties. It just bothers me sometimes but it doesn't bother all these skiers here I can't ski got a bad -- but I guess you guys are happy. Good for you on coal. And -- -- in buffalo thank you very much for calling. -- are you there. I'm Mike -- Torre sorry to cut com and not every year. We're actually here in about taking away the pensions and -- -- the kind when they -- about it and they talk about Carol. Well whether whether they're talking about -- -- the talk about municipal. Municipal pensions these of the pensions for the government employees at all levels of government from. -- like firemen and policemen. There included their absolutely included an end and that's why when people talk about cutting the pensions of bureaucrats. There are folks out there that supported but when you start cutting the pensions of first responders like firemen and policemen the idea is not nearly as popular. Well it shouldn't they -- mean because they're fattening comfort. That is if it. At this service and that's -- government people need to realize -- government is 800 for the people. But you know it's where there's there's a problem -- there's a problem there's a problem and and the problem is that that the that the of the local governments are collapsing under the weight of these pensions. So the question. -- because we need to start really I mean average politician ironic that they talked about you know how we need to breathe and more businesses. Four or more to the other tax paying base. I mean believe me instead of bringing in people that just. I thought that sent them you know and I want that's gonna say it like it is I mean what we're talking about welfare reform. Medicaid reform I mean the weak -- and you stay out he's promised to topple. But they don't they always say what we need more money from the tax. Of course they do with the easy way out I mean your wallet is easier access than any solution. Well I mean it's like to. That -- -- in the to these people they really eligible for a while pinnacle bank to investigating them. When they -- They have flat screen TV right iron attic at. Listen those flat screen TVs again pretty cheap story again real cheap in nautilus -- only get 1 o'clock on the -- Well still I mean -- in the paint used to be where you couldn't. You know I mean some states still -- you can't can't collect welfare check. If you hit them and Lebanon now. Mean to let New York State you can it was the program here instead of keep him about the freebies and expecting that taxpayers to -- Let you know what -- there's a lot of assemblyman locally gave DiPietro and others and why don't they agree with you agree with you beware in a blue state the bluest of Blue States where downstate. These issues are sacrosanct. I kept my you know and act and believe me politically -- every aspect you know and it. I think it's important here in the same old same old you know. To be perfectly acted like the -- Okay. Eleven years without even a -- increase. Not. Behind me and that person do they attacked me at this battle for a -- we contact. After eleven years. You know I mean with everything has gone up. As -- director I'm afraid we're gonna have to go pretty for the bills here -- -- go to a break here. I really appreciate you calling -- -- what your concerns about pensions -- to -- -- firemen need them but of course. Those pensions -- breaking the backs of the taxpayers so it's it's a conundrum. You know thank you very much for parliament this is Michael -- I am in for Tom Barrow and he's reunited WB Ian will be right back. It's cold it's. Cold outside. In over and -- you. -- -- That says. Rights and sixth. People who don't live in buffalo don't know what that means but it really it's true it feels like six and I'm probably for the walk. Two car market advocate this and just. A little good news here. Betty Jean grant has been elected minority leader leader of the the new Democrat caucus and the legislature. Betty Jean grant to Asia. County legislator. Here and you're recounting. -- people thought she might be elected. Minority leader bunkers she's obviously reads the majority and now. And Rebecca rate after this break news review in thirty WB him. Yes indeed a snowy day here in Buffalo, New York lake effect snow warning remains from 6 PM this evening to forum. Eastern time on Thursday in southern Erie Wyoming should talk well and -- -- counties in the a lake effect snow advisory. Is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 1 AM Wednesday. Northern Erie and Genesee counties. 45 degrees outside fuels like six. -- put on him in for Tom hourly use up this week. -- back on Monday. Here. I get a text from a friend of mine as a reporter the United States capitol he was told at 5 PM around a bit before 5 o'clock. By Paul Ryan's office congressman Paul Ryan head of the Ways and Means Committee the taxation committee in the house for them it's Republican. Says don't we don't need capital don't go home is going to be story apparently that story is that there is a budget deal. Between the senate and the house between Senate Budget Committee chairwoman. Patty Murray Democrat from Washington House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan. Republican of Wisconsin now what they're gonna do is they're gonna repeal the sequester cuts. From fourteenth. It's just -- their repealing the massacre which by the way nobody felt. And and has been cutting the budget significantly without the bold Regis moves our elected officials. Ridiculous these savings and replaced by something like 65 billion and other cuts. And also additional revenue read that as taxes. There increase that increased fees are on airlines for travelers. Rather cut federal worker in military pensions higher payments for federal insurance. A private pensions. And other things people -- in the negotiations are reporting now leaking now. So we've got to agree and budget deal and the report broken desperately do not want to goes through what happened in Ted Cruz. Went on his Bender in Washington. And closed down the government even though it's not clear whether or not that through right now. There is so much going on with Obama care that the Republicans just don't happen because. They don't want to be in the news they don't wanna bump obamacare off the front page that is if you check your newspaper. Obamacare has been negative story for the White House and for the Democrats for quite some time in its just getting worse. Just giving -- in fact. I've got money on it I think the Democrats are gonna lose the United States senate because of the absolute abysmal failure. Of obamacare in fact. If you aren't against obamacare senior Democrat running to to be reelected red state you're dead meat you're absolutely dead meat. You're going down you're going down hard. And if the Republicans. Do. And tourism if Ted Cruz stands up again. You'll see obamacare dropped to you know inside under the fold down little box. The next obituaries and nothing but negative stories -- Republicans close in the government now that's because. The media is by far very liberal enterprise. But it's also because it is news when you closed on the government it is news when your approaching its debt ceiling. And year playing hardball. And that I think as a Republican I think we lost we lost that now. And in fact we lost 44 or five weeks worth of negative news. On obamacare which would have -- -- -- something if it worked for Ted -- standup. And using the filibuster to try to shut down the government. And raise millions of dollars for themselves he could run for president if it -- for that. President Obama's approval ratings would be in the low thirties now but we had to listen to Ted Cruz go on and on about how. He was going to his gambit was going to cause Obama to blink and repeal his own in fact the only thing. The president -- President Obama ever really passed. So. Patty Murray Paul Ryan sent -- -- deal I'm not sure I like it but I sure want this story up front page one read more about Obama care muted much of that -- like him because. It's emit an absolute failure and the more the Democrats running United States and it waiter that cheap suit. The -- they are likely to win. I'm not sure what you think about it gives call -- freezer and I'm thirty and by the way if you are. Let's -- another in the suburbs somewhere gets called toss it's no one around -- or if you're stuck in traffic. Give -- call and tell us what it looks like for your 8030930. And of course you can always reached under cellphone it's -- 930 that's free that's free. And we're going to be back in a few moments with Sergio Rodriguez who made a big announcement today. And we have this is Michael Caputo and I'm in for Tom -- your injury and -- the WB and we re back after this break.
